Brain and body connection
What is art therapy?
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy where art materials are used to express, explore and communicate feelings, emotions and events. Although talk therapy can be used in conduction with art therapy, words or speech can be transferred into expression through creativity.
It has a large evidence base for support and healing with some research coming from neuroscience where the brain can be seen to work in conjunction with the body when creative materials are used that can alter neuro pathways.
Art therapy is a way of exploring traumatic material where the client has control over their exposure that can result in new perspectives and meanings that can shift pain and suffering.
